Meet some of the senior dogs helped by The Grey Muzzle Organization. We provide grants to support lifesaving, innovative senior dog programs across the country. These are just a few of the senior dogs who got their second chance thanks to the work of our grantees and the generosity of our supporters.

Medical Expense Grant

Baylee is a seven-year-old, adorable, chocolate pit bull terrier mix who loves to lounge on the couch. She loves children and is quite the gal.

Grey Miniature Schnauzer

BooBoo

How we helped

Hospice Program Grant

BooBoo is a 16-year-old Miniature Schnauzer who was surrendered to the Kentucky Humane Society (KHS) after her owner passed away. BooBoo was very depressed and confused when she first arrived, as she had spent her entire life with her family.

Keeping Senior Pets in Homes

Amber has been her owner’s therapy dog for her entire life. She has always been there for her person, and even helped her mom stay sober for eight years.

Marketing Grant

Beagles of New England States (B.O.N.E.S.) received a Grey Muzzle grant to increase awareness of their Sensational Senior Beagles program. Their goal is more immediate placement of senior beagles into forever homes, thus allowing them to take in more senior beagles, just like Happy.

Casey & Toby

How we helped

Medical Expense Grant

Casey and Toby arrived together at Austin Humane Society (AHS) after their owner passed away. At 12-years-old, these two dogs had been best friends for most of their lives and AHS was committed to adopting them to a new home together.

Buddy

Buddy

Senior Dog Adoption Grant

Buddy is a nine-year-old Yorkshire Terrier mix who arrived at The Animal Foundation this past April as a stray. He arrived with his mother Chloe, another senior dog.

Buddy and Chloe wandered from their home frequently, and on one occasion, they wandered a little too far. They were found by a Good Samaritan who took them back home and told their owner she’d like to adopt them.

Legacy and new dad

Legacy

How we helped

Medical Expense Grant

Recently, funds from a Grey Muzzle grant helped a beautiful senior dog named Legacy who was found to have 'dry eye' in both eyes, needed dental work, and suffered from cardiomyopathy. Given her symptoms and condition, the Animal Protective Foundation veterinary team made the decision to place her into a hospice home to live out the remainder of her days.

Papillon mix Freddie

Medical Expense Grant

Freddie recently arrived at Animal Rescue Inc.’s (ARI) Sanctuary for Life after being displaced from three homes through no fault of his own. Now 14 years old, this sweet Papillon mix found himself homeless and in need of extensive veterinary care to get him ready for adoption.

Cavalier King Charles Spaniel Goofy

Medical Expense Grant

Goofy came to Shelter from the Storm Animal Rescue this past spring as a breeder release. Once this eight-year-old Cavalier King Charles Spaniel was in their care, he received a comprehensive medical evaluation revealing a heart murmur, ear infection and severe dental disease.

Rat terrier Millie

Millie

Hospice Program Grant

Millie came to the Animal Rescue League of Iowa (ARL) when her owners were moving and were unable to take her along. Upon arriving at ARL, she was given a full medical evaluation and, sadly, the staff discovered this darling 12-year-old rat terrier is in renal failsure. So, they began a hospice foster home search to suit her special needs and provide her with TLC during her last months.

Black and white, large, mixed breed dog

Valerie

How we helped

Medical Expense Grant

Valerie came to Richmond Animal League (RAL) from a partnering animal control agency last year. Her human had passed away and there was no-one to care for her.

Other than having arthritis and being overweight, this nine-year-old was in good health. The RAL veterinary team prescribed her low-stress exercise and a special diet.

Seniors for Seniors Adoption Grant

Leah came to Saving Paws Rescue AZ (SPRAZ) from Maricopa County Animal Care and Control. This nine-year-old German Shepherd was not well cared for--it was obvious she had been used for breeding all her life.
