Meet some of the dogs helped by The Grey Muzzle Organization. We provide grants and other funding to pay expenses, such as medical care, so the wonderful organizations that give these dogs a second chance can focus on their care.

Shirley is a wonderfully sweet ten-year-old pitbull rescued by Young At Heart from an open admission shelter. Upon her intake exam, she was found to have a multitude of medical issues, several of which would require surgery.

When he first arrived at Stop the Suffering, Aiden had a long road to recovery ahead of him. This handsome, ten-year-old lab mix was heartworm positive, had terrible teeth, a suspicious mass and a double ear infection.

Bertha wound up in a Long Island municipal shelter as a stray. As an 11-year-old bully, she spent several months there before being pulled by Get a Bull, Inc., a two-time Grey Muzzle grantee.

Treena was picked up as a stray and taken to Stray Hearts Animal Shelter (the Humane Society of Taos) in New Mexico. While it’s sad that this gentle nine-year-old didn’t have a home to call her own, it was quite fortuitous she ended up in the care of Stray Hearts.

Paris is the most precious! This sweet senior lady arrived to Lucky Dog Animal Rescue heartworm positive. Lucky Dog's Grey Muzzle grant allows them to provide diagnostic and medical care for senior dogs living in foster homes.

Riley was taken into Mid-Atlantic English Springer Spaniel Rescue (MAESSR) when his family became overwhelmed with his care. This sweet, 11-year-old boy began having seizures about a year ago. And, as with many senior Springers, he is deaf.

Jason arrived at the Kauai Humane Society as a stray. Not much was known about this sweet, eight-year-old senior, except that he came into the shelter with severe skin allergies. Even though Jason was super uncomfortable, staff and volunteers found him to be a super happy boy!

Mini poodle Bartlett

Bartlett is an eight-year-old miniature poodle who arrived at Norfolk Animal Care & Adoption Center as a stray. This was certainly a blessing in disguise for poor Bartlett.

When he arrived, the shelter manager noted he had a host of issues, including matted fur, fleas and fecal scalds.

The Humane Society For Hamilton County (HSHC) in Indiana didn't think twice about pulling Ethel from a local shelter and accepting her into their adoption program. This 13-year-old gal was at risk of euthanasia due to her age and chronic medical issues, but HSHC knew she had a lot of life left to live and love left to give.

The Humane Society of Central Oregon (HSCO) received Zena from an individual with too many dogs. When she arrived at the shelter, it was discovered she had large cysts on her chest and left hip.

George Washingbone is a lovable, ten-year-old Dachshund who arrived at Prairie Paws Animal Shelter (PPAS) as a stray. Thanks to a Grey Muzzle grant, all senior dogs get a senior-specific wellness exam and labwork upon intake.

Charlie Brown, a sweet, nine-year-old hound mix, came to our grantee Pawmetto Lifeline in South Carolina because his owner could no longer care for him. He had been kept as a strictly outdoor dog and, sadly, tested positive for heartworm disease.
