Friends of Homeless Animals saves and improves lives one paw at a time. Dedicated to saving homeless dogs and cats, FOHA provides rescue, medical care, and adoption services in the Northern Virginia and Washington DC metropolitan areas. More than 16,000 cats and dogs have found a safe haven with FOHA over the last 47 years. FOHA’s mission statement is Home with us until they’re home with you.
Generous funding from The Grey Muzzle Organization, will allow FOHA to expand its existing Senior Care Plan, which waives adoption fees on senior dogs and reimburses adopters for qualifying medical expenses or pet insurance premiums. Promoting senior dog adoptions will allow FOHA to take in more senior dogs from shelters that simply lack the resources to care for them. FOHA will also create a complementary Senior Care offering for current FOHA adoptive families whose pets are now entering their senior years and may need additional medical support. FOHA is dedicated to reducing the number of senior dogs returned to the shelter because their people cannot afford their medical care. This grant will support dogs like Kayla, who found her forever home at 9 years old. FOHA, with Grey Muzzle’s help, wants to give more senior dogs a forever home too.
